Description As the local leader of People & Culture for the Canadian Team, you’re building, developing, and retaining high-performing teams who deliver on our mission and values. A proven leader with a track record across people functions and culture-building.
Responsibilities Strategic HR Leadership:
- Strategic Improvement: Identify and implement strategic improvements to the HR department, including process improvement, resource planning, training, and prioritizing key initiatives.
- HR Strategy: Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the company's business objectives, focusing on recruiting, retention, and HR operations.
- Budget management: Partner with Finance to ensure all HR budgets are managed and met and provide additional budget planning preparation for the future to effectively manage People & Culture resources. Employee Experience:
- Employee Engagement: Manage and scale the company’s compensation model and benefits programs, including salary negotiations, benefits administration and performance management.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase innovative thought, teamwork, and merit-based career pathing within the organization, ensuring an engaging workplace. HR Operations:
- Policy Development: Create and update HR policies, procedures, and guidelines as needed. Ensure compliance with legal standards and industry best practices.
- Employee Lifecycle Management: Provide strategic oversight of the full employee lifecycle (including talent acquisition, performance management, and offboarding) ensuring consistent, equitable, and compliance practices that support organizational goals. Coaching and Support:
- Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and people managers on performance management, employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
- Talent Management: Implement new and enhance existing staff recognition and rewards programs. Participate in interview processes, including new hires, stay and exit interviews. Metrics and Reporting:
- HR Metrics: Prepare and analyze HR metrics, providing reports that support decision-making in specified areas. Use data to inform HR strategies and improvements. Industry Engagement:
- Professional Development: Keep abreast of industry knowledge and trends by participating in conferences and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role (e.g. HRBP, Senior Manager, Head of or Director of People) across Canada and the US.
- Proven ability to develop and execute HR strategies aligned to business goals, including organizational change management, workforce planning, talent development, and employee engagement.
- Hands-on experience with HR operations (recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compliance, and HRIS implementation).
- Strong track record managing compensation, benefits, budgets, and HR metrics/KPIs to inform decision-making.
- Strong understanding of relevant HR legislation, federal and local employment laws, and workplace best practices in both Canada and the US (Quebec experience preferred).
- Expertise in employee relations, coaching, and culture-building, with commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Experience leading and mentoring HR teams through growth and organizational change.
- Fluently bilingual ( English/French), proficient in verbal and written communications in both languages.
- Proven track record with other startups or VC funded companies.
- Experience with a large non-exempt hourly workforce.
- Human Resources Professional Certification (e.g., CRHA).
- Experience with Rippling, ADP, Lattice, Slack, Notion, Lever, and Google Suite.
