Camp STEM or Nature Specialist (Summer Seasonal)

If you like working with kids, our dynamic and community-centered organization is looking to add an energetic, conscientious, and resourceful Nature and STEM Specialist to join our team. The Nature and STEM Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing programming for our Jr. Scientist and Eco Adventures Camps along with Nature and Science programming that will be used in Cherryvale Day Camp.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as lead educator for Nature and/or STEM instruction for the Cherryvale Day Camp Program.
- Develop and document diverse, age appropriate activities for each group.
- Potential to create and lead 2, two-week speciality camps, Jr. Scientist Camp and EcoAdventures.
- Enthusiastically participate in all camp programs and activities.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for campers, abiding by all camp rules and policies. Assist any camper with empathy and patience.
- Assisting in camp groups when staff support is needed
- Interface with the leadership team (Assistant Camp Director, Program Coordinator, Camp Director, Camper Care Specialist, Kindergarten Camper Care Specialist) as needed.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- This role is in-person, seasonal, and full time during the camp season, May19 - August 8, 2025.
- Camp is operated outdoors unless weather prohibits it. Working conditions include spending full days under the sun in all temperatures.
- We have two weeks of in person training before the camp season begins.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be over the age of 18.
- Staff members will be required to uphold all current health and safety protocols as listed in the link below. Policies are subject to change.
- Background in STEM and/or nature based programing or education
- Experience or willingness to work with young children (ages 4 – 12)
- Proven outdoor, nature, and science skills
- Has the ability to think and act creatively, be flexible, demonstrate pride of work, and is caring about the individuals they serve.
While performing regular duties, you will be required to sit, stand, reach, walk, or kneel, and to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While this role is primarily seasonal, from May - August, there is opportunity for a limited number of staff to extend beyond seasonal capacity.
COMPENSATION
This is a non-exempt hourly position with a salary range of $16.50-18.50/hour commensurate with experience. This is a 40-hour a week position May-August. The benefits for seasonal and temporary employees currently include a 403b retirement plan with generous company match and sick leave.
The anticipated closing of this position is May 23, 2025.
