Our dynamic and community-centered organization is looking to add an organized, detail-oriented, and conscientious Controller to the Finance team. The Boulder JCC Financial Controller reports to the Senior Director of Finance and is

responsible for managing and overseeing all facets of accounting operations, including

financial reporting, internal controls, policy development, and managing transactions and the

close process.

This position requires an ability to work both independently and collaboratively to manage varied tasks, prioritize issues, execute work efficiently and timely, and track and manage multiple work streams at once. Success in this position depends on your ability to learn and implement new technologies, handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, and communicate effectively across teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Financial statements, budget, forecast, and grant reporting for the Executive Director, Senior Director of Finance, Finance Committee, and other stakeholders
  • Other ad hoc reports and information as needed by the Senior Director of
  • Finance in coordination with BJCC Senior Leadership to support the decision-making process
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders using Sage Intacct to create Dashboards that combine KPIs, reports, and financial/non-financial data that is most useful for those users to provide financial performance insights
  • Develop pro forma financial statements to model five-year rolling forecasts of profit and loss and cash flow projections
  • Develop various financial models as needed to help executive leadership make effective strategy-making decisions
  • Release deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, and contribution restrictions on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Participate in the Board of Directors Finance, Investment, and Scholarship Committees
  • Prepare for, and support annual audit, including preparing schedules and ensuring financial records are accurately prepared prior to the audit
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
  • Collaborate across the organization to design program budgets, implement approved budgets into Intacct, and work with departmental directors to monitor revenues and program expenditures
  • Conduct daily and monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Conduct regular reconciliations of contribution revenue and open pledges with Development
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance and ensure financial systems and tools in use are effective, efficient, and compliant
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Support month-end and year-end close process, including creating adjusting entries as needed
  • Assist with any other tasks on an as-needed basis
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • 3-5 years in nonprofit accounting or relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, CPA or accounting degree is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software, Sage Intacct is preferred
  • Experience using Excel/Google Sheets
  • Solid experience in budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience with creating financial reports
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Adept at learning and implementing new technologies
  • Able to interact with senior level executive and community members
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and simultaneously organize and complete
  • complex tasks
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, year-round position with an annualized salary range of $91,400-$106,200 commensurate with experience and education. Employee benefits currently include health insurance (medical, dental, and vision) with access to a health savings account (HSA) with generous employer contributions, a 403(b) retirement savings plan with immediate vesting and an employer match up to 4%, voluntary disability, life, and accident insurance, substantial staff discounts, as well as plentiful time off (vacation, sick, holidays, and a full week off for Thanksgiving).
