Beth El Synagogue Center in New Rochelle, NY (Westchester) is seeking engaging, enthusiastic, passionate educators for our Religious School for 2024-2025! About the Synagogue: Beth El is a joyful, welcoming, and warm community in Westchester, New York. We thrive on learning, singing, and connecting with one another. We offer many avenues to spiritual connection – from daily minyan to contemplative Shabbat services to traditional Shabbat & holiday services. About the Religious School: Beth El’s Religious School has around 70 learners in K-7th grades. We provide dynamic Jewish experiences with emphasis on Hebrew language; Torah and the Jewish calendar; prayer and Jewish music; Jewish values; and a relationship to Israel. Our teachers, learning specialists, and clergy create a nurturing environment for all learners. School Details: Our religious school meets on Thursdays from 4-6 pm and on Sunday mornings from 9-11 am or 9-12 pm, depending on the grade. Staff may teach on both Sundays and Thursdays, or only one day. Expected to arrive 15 minutes before class and stay through the end of dismissal. Occasional faculty meetings after school. In addition to classroom time, we also have art, music, Shinshinim (Israeli youth on their gap years), children’s choir and tefillah. Available Positions: Positions available for both elementary and middle school grades on Sunday mornings. Educators can work on both Sundays and Thursdays, or only one day per week. Grade placement and scheduling discussed individually. Requirements: Basic Hebrew decoding skills and familiarity with Conservative liturgy, plus general familiarity with Torah stories, Jewish holidays and Jewish values. Educators will write lesson plans for each class session with support from the Director of Youth & Family Engagement. Compensation: $5000-$11,000 (negotiable), depending on days/hours per week and experience/education/tenure. Educators earn 1 day of PTO per day they work per week.
