Company: B’Tayavon Food Service (at Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy, Rockville, MD)
Compensation: $16.50 – $18.00 / hour
Job Objective
Support the preparation and delivery of internal and external to-go meals, focusing on high-quality cold food production and kitchen sanitation under direct supervision.
Key Responsibilities

Food Prep: Wash, peel, chop, and mix ingredients for salads, fruit baskets, parfaits, cold sauces, dressings and other cold items.

Kitchen Operations: Set up serving lines, steam tables, and counters, serve food using established portion controls.

Sanitation & Safety: Clean and sanitize workspaces, utensils, pots, and pans; dispose of refuse; strictly follow food safety regulations and labeling.

Inventory: Monitor pantry stock, minimize waste, and assist with receiving and storing supplies.

Collaboration: Partner with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
Requirements & Physical Demands

Age/Education: 18+ years old with a High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of line kitchen experience.

Skills: Strong English communication (verbal/written), basic math, and ability to follow recipes accurately.

Physical Ability: Stand for 8+ hours; lift/carry up to 50 lbs independently (75 lbs with assistance); work on 3-4 ft cutting surfaces.

Environment: Ability to work in extreme temperatures ranging from freezers (-10°F) to hot kitchens (+110°F).
Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Kosher Dietary Laws.

ServSafe Certification and Montgomery County Food Safety Certification.
