Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, attentive, and proactive individual to serve as a one-on-one shadow for a middle school student with learning differences. The ideal candidate will provide in-class and out-of-class support, helping the student access curriculum, remain regulated and engaged, and build independence and confidence throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous, discreet support throughout the school day, both in academic classes and during transitions or non-academic periods (e.g. lunch, recess, electives).
- Support the student’s executive functioning needs, including organization, task initiation, following multi-step directions, and managing time.
- Scaffold and clarify instruction and assignments to ensure the student can access the curriculum in coordination with classroom teachers and learning support staff.
- Provide emotional and behavioral support as needed, helping the student stay focused, calm, and appropriately social with peers.
- Encourage independence while recognizing when intervention or redirection is needed.
- Maintain communication with the learning support team and parents and participate in regular check-ins or team meetings.
- Track and document relevant observations to support goal tracking and learning plans.
- Collaborate with teachers to occasionally support other students in the classroom when appropriate, while maintaining primary responsibility for the assigned student.
- Participate in general school responsibilities such as recess/lunch duty or hallway supervision, as assigned.
- When the assigned student is absent, assist with classroom support tasks or other school-based responsibilities as directed by administration or the learning support team.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with learning disabilities or neurodiverse profiles preferred.
- Background in education, psychology, or a related field is helpful but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a supportive demeanor.
- Ability to follow the lead of professionals while exercising independent judgment in the moment.
- Collaborative and flexible approach to working within a school setting.
- Working knowledge of Judaics and Hebrew is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move around a school campus throughout the day.
- Stamina to work full school days while maintaining high levels of focus and support.

This shadow reports to: The Director of Educational Support
Compensation: 35k-40k
