 Position Overview

 The American Friends of Beit Ruth (hereinafter “Beit Ruth”) team is growing, and seeks an experienced, bright, passionate, and ideas-driven Development Associate (hereinafter “Associate”) to join its Manhattan office. This full-time hybrid position offers the opportunity to gain international non-profit experience with a leading organization focused on empowering at-risk girls, advocacy, and gender equality.

Reporting to the Development Director (hereinafter “DD”) and working closely with the Communications Director (hereinafter “CD”) and Executive Director, and the Israel-based Leadership team, the Associate is responsible for a breadth of cross-functional development activities and will play a vital role in showcasing Beit Ruth’s transformational work and in fulfilling its short-term development goals and its long-term vision.

 The successful candidate will help develop and lead a plan of action. And will create and help drive results-driven fundraising, communications, and social impact initiatives while expanding Beit Ruth’s reach and reputation.

You will have goals, not always instructions, and are collegial, but do not need to be micro-managed. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of Beit Ruth’s mission and is energized by engaging with and being part of a visionary international team committed to ending gender-based violence. You are a strong communicator, writer, creative thinker, and skilled strategist who inspires action and supports initiatives that drive measurable results. You thrive in both planning and executing strategies and are adaptable in a dynamic environment. You are optimistic and a solution-oriented team player who fosters collaboration and brings energy to all aspects of your work. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.

Development & Fundraising

·       Help create, coordinate and manage fundraising efforts in collaboration with the DD and CD, including creating and managing donor relations; special events; speaking engagements; and other stakeholder outreach.

·       Collaborate with US and Israel team on strategy and manage execution of general fundraising plans throughout the year.

·       Work closely with DD on planning successful cultivation, asks and stewardship.

·       Steward Village visitors and volunteers and other external partners and alliances to create a strong coalition of supporters, donors, and partners.

·       Research and help identify and prioritize giving opportunities.

  • Work closely with the DD to help identify and execute new opportunities for funding and partnering with existing and new individuals, foundations, and organizations to achieve funding successes.

Communications and Outreach

●      Work with staff in US and Israel to create and execute all aspects of external/internal communications to engage and activate donors, partners, and prospects, including individuals, foundations, Board and Committee members, and institutional partners.

●      Work on strategy and develop compelling and visually appealing digital and print communications including appeals, e-newsletters, annual reports, donor and Board updates, social media content, website updates, and event materials to align with organizational goals.

●      Update and manage organization’s digital space, including website (Squarespace), social media (Facebook and Instagram) and regularly adding new and relevant content.

●      Work to identify and secure diverse opportunities to amplify Beit Ruth’s visibility.

Programs and Special Initiatives

●      Act as a liaison between the U.S. and Israel teams to stay informed on Village activities, events, and programs, ensuring alignment in messaging and compelling storytelling.

●      Work to manage and enhance special programs, including the University Fellowship(s), B’nai Mitzvah and Young Leadership Council Programs—towards fundraising goals.

●      Engage Young Leadership and Bnai Mitzvah families through communication, cultivation and stewardship, creating the next generation of Beit Ruth’s philanthropists.

●      Work extensively on all aspects of special events and annual Gala.

Foundations and Grants

●      Support the Foundation and Grants strategy, including identifying new opportunities and strengthening existing relationships.

●      In collaboration with the CD, oversee the grant process and calendar, including preparing and submitting proposals, reports and related materials as needed.

●      Work closely with Beit Ruth’s Finance team to ensure accurate financials for funding opportunities.

Required Skills and Experience

●      Bachelor’s degree and 2 - 4 years’ experience in nonprofit Fundraising/Development and Communications, including Social Media.

●      Demonstrated success in strategic fundraising and communications and development, with a proven ability to persuasively engage diverse audiences.

●      Excellent computer skills – Word, Excel and PowerPoint, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram), and familiarity with donor management databases.

●      Relevant experience in Adobe Creative Suite, i.e., Canva, Constant Contact, Photoshop and other creative tools, including Squarespace.

●      Strong project-management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively and professionally, with a strong attention to detail.

●      Experience working in a collaborative team environment while also being self-motivated and capable of independent work.

●      Social justice-oriented and passionate about communicating Beit Ruth’s mission and accomplishments.

●      Strong judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.

●      Familiarity with Israel and the Jewish philanthropic community.
