About BBYO and its Purpose
BBYO is the Jewish community’s leading pluralistic provider of meaningful Jewish experiences. With over 200 employees globally and a $50 million annual budget, BBYO and the more than 35,000 teens who are reached by BBYO programs annually, play a critical role in defining and strengthening the future of the Jewish community.
We believe that we can enrich the life of a young person in a very profound way. We bring Jewish teens together so they can form powerful, authentic relationships with each other and with inspiring adult role models. We do this by creating compelling Jewish experiences where they feel pride in who they are, in control of their own destiny and a part of something greater than themselves.
The primary role of BBYO professionals is to work together with teens and volunteers to offer compelling experiences that connect and inspire young Jews. BBYO experiences offer compelling, safe environments; exposure to talent/educators that is not normally available to them; and a lasting sense of connectivity to their peers. Most importantly, all these experiences strive to be rich in fun, friendship, music and laughter.
BBYO’s best performance comes when teens, professionals and volunteers work together on common goals through coordination, trust and humility. Because of this, BBYO’s structure resembles a web of interconnected talent, where people of different skills, perspectives and backgrounds are invited to add value to whatever the task at hand might be. BBYO professionals don’t create things “for teens,” they create things “with teens.”
