Position Title: Childcare attendantFLSA: Hourly/Non-ExemptPart-time, not to exceed 20 hours per weekDepartment: MembershipJob description:This position is responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for small groups of children, from infants 8 weeks of age to nine (9) years old, in the JCC Childcare Room for short periods of time while their caregivers/parents use the JCC facilities during the hours of:- Monday – Friday 8am – noon- Monday – Thursday 4pm – 7pm- Sunday – 9am – noonJob Competencies:- Passion for working with and caring for children.- Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.- Ability to effectively work with multiple children at a time.- Friendly, patient, professional and empathetic with children and their caregivers/parents.- Able to work well under pressure while maintaining a pleasant demeanor.- Able to maintain strict confidentiality of member information.Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Engage/lead children in age-appropriate developmental, sensory, and active play activities.- Follow all policies and programming requirements to ensure safe, age-appropriate activities for all children.- Greet children and parents, ensure proper check-in and check-out, and communicate appropriate information at check-out.- Adhere to all staff guidelines during shift- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the area.- Maintain a caring and compassionate attitude with staff, children, and parents.- Responsible for daily sterilization of toys, tables and areas of regular use.- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.Physical requirements and working conditions include, but are not limited to:- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.- Regularly required to talk and hear.- Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.- Occasionally exposed to hazardous material (urine and fecal material in diapers).- Regularly exposed to a noisy work environment and in close proximity to others.Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED required- Current CPR, AED and First Aid certification preferred- Prior experience working with young children preferred- Excellent interpersonal skills requiredTo apply, email your resume to Gretchen Randall, Director of Internal Engagement at randallg@jcc-sa.org.
