Position title: Fitness Center AttendantFLSA: Hourly/Non-Exempt/Part-TimeDEPARTMENT: Sports & fitnessPAY RANGE: $12.00 – $14.00 per hourReporting Relationship: Reports to Fitness & Group Exercise SupervisorADDITIONAL: 10 hours/week – 11:00AM – 4:00PM, Mondays and WednesdaysThis position enhances the member experience by creating a welcoming, clean and safe environment in the Fitness Center and exercise studios for JCC Members and guests while providing the highest quality of customer service.To be successful, the candidate must:- Work well as part of a collaborative team.- Possess strong communication and customer service skills.- Be friendly, patient, professional and empathetic with all individuals.- Possess strong multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills.- Be able to maintain strict confidentiality of member information.Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Engage with members and guests, meet and greet them, and respond to their questions.- Develop, motivate and maintain professional relationships with members and guests by providing personal attention using a proactive approach.- Provide basic assistance, orientation and guidance to users of the fitness equipment.- Ensure a safe environment and promptly respond to and report safety and emergency situations.- Clean all equipment after member use and keep the fitness center tidy at all times.- Launder towels and maintain a steady towel supply for members.- Enforce Fitness Center and Weight Room etiquette with members and guests.- Continuously walk the Fitness Center engaging with members while enforcing safety and sanitation protocols.- Monitor equipment and report any maintenance issues to Fitness & Group Exercise Supervisor.- Behave as a role model by leading and promoting a healthy lifestyle and maintain a positive attitude at all times when working with members.- Provide hospitality to all members and guests and work together as a team with all departments.- Maintain strict confidentiality of member information.- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.Physical requirements and working conditions of the position include, but are not limited to:- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.- Regularly required to talk and hear.- Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.- Occasionally required to climb, push and pull.- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.- Regularly exposed to a noisy work environment and in close proximity to others.Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED- Outstanding interpersonal skills- Strength and cardio training experience- Current CPR/AED Certification preferred by not requiredContact our Fitness and Group Exercise Supervisor for more information, (210) 302-6909.
