Position Overview

The Development Associate will play a vital role in ensuring the success of BaMidbar’s fundraising efforts by providing administrative and logistical support for development and marketing activities. This position is ideal for an early-career professional interested in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, event planning, and communications. The Development Associate will work closely with the COO and CEO to maintain donor records, coordinate fundraising campaigns, support grant reporting, and assist in donor stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Engagement, Stewardship, & Fundraising Campaigns (40%)
  • Maintain donor records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information in the donor database (Salesforce).
  • Process and acknowledge gifts in a timely manner, ensuring donors receive personalized recognition.
  • Prepare donor impact reports, thank-you letters, and other stewardship materials.
  • Support senior staff in planning and executing donor appreciation initiatives.
  • Assist in coordinating fundraising campaigns, such as Giving Tuesday, year-end appeals, and other key initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop compelling fundraising materials, including email appeals, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Monitor fundraising campaign performance and compile reports on key metrics.
Grants & Foundation Support (20%)
  • Conduct prospect research to identify funding opportunities from foundations and corporate sponsors.
  • Assist senior staff in tracking reporting deadlines and grant deliverables, and compiling necessary materials for submissions, including documents and program impact data.
Event Planning & Coordination (10%)
  • Provide logistical support for fundraising and donor engagement events, both virtual and in-person (approximately 3-4 events per year).
  • Coordinate event registration, communications, and follow-up with attendees.
  • Assist CEO in developing sponsorship materials and tracking sponsor commitments.
Administrative, Database & Digital Tools Management (30%)
  • Maintain accurate records of BaMidbar’s CRM system.
  • Support COO/CEO in tracking of development activities.
  • Assist in preparing reports for board meetings and development committee meetings.
  • Utilize Canva to design donor-facing materials, including reports, event invitations, and social media graphics.
  • Manage email communications through Mailchimp, ensuring high-quality, engaging donor outreach.
  • Create and share donor impact stories through various communication channels
  • Update and maintain donor and fundraising information on BaMidbar’s website using website management tools (e.g., WordPress, Wix, or similar platforms).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience using digital tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, and website management tools (WordPress, Wix, or similar).
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in donor databases or CRM platforms (experience with Salesforce or similar systems is a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Passion for mental health advocacy and an understanding of the Jewish communal landscape is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Position Type: Full-time, Exempt
  • Salary: $50,000-$60,000 (If your salary expectations are different or if you have more experience than required, let’s talk!)
