The Office Manager contributes integrally to the congregation’s success, supporting the executive leadership of the synagogue, including the clergy. The Office Manager will be a highly responsible administrative professional and be an effective communicator, detail-oriented and flexible in a dynamic environment.

Customer Service

· Be the “voice of the office” as the first point of contact when congregants or any person calls or visits.

· Be able to manage phone system and route calls, manage door buzzer and address walk-in concerns

· Be a firm “gatekeeper” for administrative staff and clergy while also still being personable and supporting the synagogue as a secure environment

Office Management

· Work closely with Executive Director and Clergy to provide administrative support such as, but not limited to: calendaring, congregant, contact life cycle and event logistics support

· Support bookkeeper including but not limited to tracking bills and payments, organizing receipts and following up with vendors

· Assist with mail, printing, copying and scanning as needed.

· Maintain office, including ordering and organizing supplies and making sure office is at all times presentable and up to date

Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications

· Effective communicator

· Excellent organizational skills

· Ability to reinforce B’nai David-Judea’s warm, friendly, and comfortable environment

· Working knowledge of Judaic practices and rituals, including familiarity with the Jewish calendar of celebrations and holidays a plus or willingness to learn quickly

· Ability to interact in a positive manner with, clergy, staff, lay leaders, congregants and the public

· Ability to maintain confidentiality

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher

· Knowledge of ShulCloud a plus

· Previous experience with basic bookkeeping a plus

· Excellent writing and proofreading skills efficient work practices and strong organizational skills

· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
