Ammud provides Jewish education* for Jews of Color, by Jews of Color. Based in New York City but reaching a global audience, Ammud offers multiple courses and pedagogical frameworks at a pay-what-you-can rate to develop technical skills such as language, text study, and seminar-discussion based learning. Ammud is grounded in anti-oppression values and is a space for Jews of Color to gather and learn unchallenged in their Jewishness. Ammud exists to empower Jewish people of color by providing community and personalized support to become empowered members and leaders of the broader Jewish community, creating space to celebrate marginalized customs and traditions and (re)build culture. Ammud works to support JOC Jewish education and leadership all around the world, working with siloed JOCs in majority-white institutions. Finally, Ammud is a pathway that can lead to rabbinic ordination, liturgical leadership, and lay leadership, helping Jewish people of Color to work in solidarity with the broader community. Formed in 2019, Ammud is a financially independent 501(c)(3) non-profit. *Jewish education includes canonical texts, material produced by Jews, comparative studies related to Judaism or Jewishness, or issues and/or histories relevant to the Jewish community.
