Reports To: Accounting Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
COMPENSATION: $95 - $110K
Position Summary
The FP&A Senior Accountant is a key member of the Finance team responsible for supporting financial planning, analysis, and forecasting while also assisting with general ledger accounting and monthly close activities. This role bridges financial operations and strategic planning, ensuring accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and strong internal controls.
The ideal candidate combines analytical expertise with strong technical accounting skills and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance and prepare variance analyses
- Support departmental leaders with financial reporting and cost center management
- Develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools
- Prepare monthly financial dashboards and management reports
- Analyze trends in revenue, expenses, and operational performance
General Ledger & Accounting Support
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support accruals, allocations, and adjusting entries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
- Assist with audit schedules and external auditor requests
Controls & Process Improvement
- Help strengthen segregation of duties and internal controls
- Identify and recommend process improvements
- Assist in documentation of accounting procedures
- Support system implementations and reporting enhancements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and/or FP&A experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling, etc.)
- ERP experience required; nonprofit experience preferred (if applicable)
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
