External Relations Specialist, JDC - Europe, Africa and Asia
The Joint (JDC), the world’s leading Jewish humanitarian assistance organization, seeks to hire a creative, articulate and dynamic individual with superior organizational, relationship-building, and presentation skills to fill the position of External Relations Specialist for Europe, Africa and Asia (EurAA). The ERD Specialist will play a key role in working with EurAA field staff, Jewish communities, JDC’s RD team, and other partners to develop funder engagement opportunities, ensure consistent, accurate external communication about the region’s work, and represent the region through briefings, presentations and donor missions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Identify funding needs and ensure that all relevant information is available for the preparation of grant proposals, donor reports, and other specialized written materials; Guide writers on content use, review drafts, and grant final content approval.
- Promote and represent JDC EurAA through presentations, staffing donor missions, visitor briefings, and public speaking engagements.
- Track and manage the progress of pending and secured donations, and collaborate with the Finance team on financial reporting and budget processes.
- Coordinate and support regional marketing and communications efforts, including developing marketing materials and identifying content that strengthens the region’s online and social media presence, in collaboration with JDC’s Global Marketing team.
- Prepare messaging, fundraising materials, and a range of regional content, including presentations, donor updates, and internal documents, while working closely with the JDC EurAA External Relations Manager.
- Contribute in a limited capacity to FSU‑related external relations projects and accounts as part of cross‑regional collaboration.
- Provide content support for donor engagement activities, including missions and visiting speakers abroad, by sharing field insights, briefing materials or background documents
Qualifications
- Two or more years of relevant professional experience in external relations, fundraising, grant management, communications, community engagement, nonprofit work, or similar fields.
- Proven experience preparing written materials such as grant proposals, donor reports, presentations, briefing documents, or professional communications.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders in a complex, international, or multicultural environment.
- Excellent organizational skills; self-starter
- Articulate communicator with excellent presentation and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills; team player with leadership capabilities
- English mother tongue- a must. Proficient Hebrew. Additional European languages – a plus
- At least a bachelor's degree
- Fluency of Excel and Outlook
- Knowledge of European Jewish communities – a plus
- Knowledge of the American Jewish philanthropic environment and fundraising – a plus
- Ability to travel overseas several times per year, and to work unconventional hours if needed.
