Your Department
AJC’s Human Resources team plays a pivotal role in driving AJC’s multi-year People Strategy, focused in four key areas: Building Manager Capability, Culture, Professional & Career Development and Total Rewards in support of AJC’s mission and strategy. Our work includes organizational design, critical partnerships with key leaders to drive organizational performance as well as the full employee life cycle from recruitment, onboarding, talent management, performance, employee relations and engagement, total rewards, workplace policies, compliance, and other strategic and operational functions.
Your Impact The Associate Director of Talent Acquisition will lead and evolve the AJC’s recruiting strategy, ensuring we attract high performing and mission- aligned- talent across functions and geographies. This role balances strategic framing and leadership with hands on recruiting, partnering closely with the Chief People Officer, senior leaders, hiring managers, and other Human Resource colleagues.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in full -cycle recruiting, best practices in leveraging technology, a strong understanding of nonprofit or mission driven- environments, and a commitment to AJC values.
Your Role
Talent Acquisition Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy aligned with AJC’s People Strategy & Long-Term Strategic Plan.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on hiring strategy, market trends, and talent availability.
- Build scalable and consistent recruiting practices across regions and departments.
- Lead and manage contract recruiters, and partner with members of the HR team engaged in parts of the recruitment process (posting & screening)
Full Cycle Recruiting
- Manage full cycle recruitment from sourcing through acceptance and onboarding– with focus on senior level, specialized, and hard to fill roles
- Partner with hiring managers to define the most critical role requirements, success profiles, and reinforce hiring processes.
- Ensure an exceptional candidate experience that reflects AJC’s values and culture.
Employer Brand & Mission Aligned Outreach
- Strengthen AJC’s employer brand, particularly within Jewish, diplomatic, and nonprofit talent markets by leveraging the branding work of the Marketing and Communications team.
- Develop partnerships with peer organizations, professional networks, universities, and identify other talent pipelines.
- Represent the organization at networking events, conferences, and community gatherings as appropriate.
Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
- Reassess AJC’s new applicant tracking system (ATS) and own and optimize an ATS and recruiting workflows.
- Track, analyze, and report on recruiting metrics (time to fill, quality of hire, candidate experience and related).
- Continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, hiring manager and candidate experience.
- Leverage where appropriate new technologies including AI.
Integration with Overall HR Team
- Actively engage in moving the newly established People Strategy forward with its four pillars: Total Rewards Strategy, Professional and Career Development, Intentional Focus on Culture and Building Manager Capability.
- Partner with Chief People Officer and Director of Employee Relations on building manager capability around talent spotting and sharing, recruitment, and candidate experience.
- Serve as a trusted team member for the broader HR organization. Work in partnership to ensure smooth transition from hiring to onboarding
- Ensure internal talent pools are continuously strengthened by serving as a critical partner to broader HR team in identifying
talent and skills gaps, and assisting the broader development of Professional Development pillar of People Strategy - Supervisory Role Individual Contributor
Education, Training, and Experience
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 8+ years of deep talent acquisition experience, and several years of experience in one or more other HR disciplines (e.g. learning & development, total rewards, organization design, HRBP);
- Experience in learning and development a plus.
- Strategic thinker with strong execution skills
- Passion for the mission, goals, and objectives of AJC

- Demonstrates professionalism and high standards of conduct
- Demonstrated success recruiting across multiple functions and levels in a mission driven, nonprofit, or values- based- organization.
- Experience supporting internationally and/or distributed teams.
- Strong knowledge of hiring practices and employment compliance.
- Experience with at least one ATS platform and data driven decision making and reporting
- Exceptional relationship building, communication, and stakeholder- management- skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
- Strong organization and time management skills, including the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong influencing skills
- High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity
- Preferred experience working in or with Jewish organizations or Jewish advocacy spaces.
- Familiarity with change management, organizational growth, or transformation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook), and Zoom
- Willing and able to work outside of standard working hours, including early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends

Compensation
$95,000 to $120,000, skills and location dependent
