Your Department

AJC uses marketing, branding, communications, and social media to educate the public and shape opinion in pursuit of our mission. We leverage our vast global media presence—which includes the largest social media following of any Jewish organization—as an essential part of our advocacy arsenal.

Your Impact

This position makes an impact at AJC by managing work with moderate, but important impact on the organization's mission and goals. Works with regular oversight to solve moderately complex problems and make moderate and significant decisions.

The incumbent plans and manages communications initiatives related to advancing and communicating AJC’s advocacy agenda. This position is responsible for collaborating with teams to coordinate digital communications, grow content distribution programs, and implementing strategies for email list growth.

Your Role

Advocacy Campaigns

  • Serve as the Department’s liaison to the agency’s advocacy calendar, the main point of truth for significant advocacy-related campaigns, anniversaries, events, and projects for the agency;
  • Serve as project manager for major AJC advocacy campaigns, working with agency stakeholders and entire Marketing and Communications Department from media relations to web and email strategy, social media to content, to ensure our constituents and wider audience are aware of AJC’s global advocacy;
  • Collaborate with each vertical within the Department to identify necessary graphics for major initiatives, and collaborate with the Graphics team to obtain relevant custom graphics;
  • Oversee digital advocacy strategy, including proposing action alerts and petition ideas likely to show AJC as a leader in our field, and obtain qualified leads;
  • Together with the Director of Operations, Communications, and the Director of Digital Marketing, oversee project management within the Marketing and Communications Department;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization to develop action alerts aligned with agency’s priorities;
  • Build action alerts and petitions in AJC’s digital advocacy platform for both pre-planned and emergency advocacy campaigns;
  • Work closely with Director of Digital Marketing and email team on email strategy, particularly related to AJC’s advocacy communications and monthly newsletters;
  • Serve as back-up email drafter for high-priority email campaigns;
  • Liaise with AJC’s Regional Offices on their major advocacy initiatives;
  • Pull and organize data from AJC’s digital advocacy platform related to advocacy campaigns;
  • Collaborate with Development, IT/RE, and email teams on lead generation and audience engagement strategies, particularly regarding welcoming new constituents;
  • Manage the advocacy@ajc.org inbox;
  • Identify and implement how our content marketing strategies can be best applied for advocacy purposes;
  • Manage advocacy campaign goals and metrics, often in conjunction with other AJC departments and vendors.

Survey Management

  • Oversee all of AJC’s survey operations both in the U.S. and abroad;
  • Project manage all aspects of AJC-managed survey releases, from setting the goals to the overarching messaging to launch to metrics reporting;
  • Work interdepartmentally to help create survey questionnaires;
  • Identify communication needs for each survey, and oversee MarComm team has what they need;
  • Oversee the communication components of AJC’s State of Antisemitism in America Report; including multiple press releases, op-eds, content pieces, webpages, custom graphics, presentations, a full social media plan, and over four weeks of email communications.

Global Forum

  • Oversee all of AJC’s survey operations both in the U.S. and abroad;
  • Build and maintain AJC Marketing and Communications minute-by-minute Global Forum run of show, breaking down where each person on each time needs to be and when to optimize staff time and agency communications;
  • Oversee the Marketing Communications on the ground at Global Forum;
  • Serve as AJC’s Global Events Teams’ main point of contact for MarComm in the lead up to and during the conference.
  • Coordinate MarComm team logistics (including tech and room/space needs, walkies, banners for recording, etc)
  • Project managing/documenting final strategic comms plans and tracking content creation
  • Lead team-specific debriefs post-GloFo to ensure best practice/procedures for future conference Coordinate speaker collaborations including side interviews, video recordings, etc.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience in the field of communications, including at least 1-2 years of experience with social media
  • Intermediate job skills and knowledge

  • Understanding of online communications technologies
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing (preferred)

Compensation

The salary for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 depending on relevant experience and location.
