The American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA) supports the lifesaving work of MDA. Through philanthropy, advocacy, and public education throughout the U.S., AFMDA provides critical resources to help ensure that Magen David Adom’s 39,000 paramedics, EMTs, and first responders have the training, equipment, and technology they need to save lives—every day and in times of crisis.

Position Summary:

The Senior Director, Marketing reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and plays a central role in shaping and driving AFMDA’s marketing communications strategy, brand presence, messaging, and outreach across platforms. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for translating marketing priorities into high-impact programs with clear objectives, accountability, and measurable results. Working closely with development and national teams, the Senior Director ensures that marketing efforts directly support organizational goals, donor engagement, and fundraising growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy & Execution

  • Translate organizational and marketing priorities into integrated, results-driven marketing initiatives

  • Oversee advertising campaigns from concept through execution, ensuring clarity of message and strong performance outcomes

  • Lead special marketing projects tied to organizational priorities, campaigns, and high-visibility initiatives

Donor Engagement & Outreach

  • Develop and execute donor-facing marketing initiatives that support acquisition, retention, and stewardship

  • Partner with development teams to support major campaigns, special appeals, and donor communications

Performance, Analytics & Optimization

  • Own marketing performance measurements across digital, email, content, paid media, and donor-facing initiatives, including ROI tracking and reporting

  • Use data to inform decision-making, testing, optimization, and continuous improvement

  • Establish clear goals, metrics and success benchmarks for marketing initiatives

  • Prepare and present insights, analyses, and recommendations 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with development and national staff to ensure marketing efforts support organizational priorities

  • Serve as a strategic marketing partner across teams, helping align messaging, timing, and execution

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, or a related field; graduate degree a plus

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive marketing communications leadership experience, with demonstrated success in mission-driven organizations

  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling, donor-focused narratives

  • Familiarity with the American Jewish community and the pro-Israel fundraising landscape

  • Senior marketing communications leader with strong hands-on execution experience

  • Highly analytical, with a demonstrated ability to use data to drive decisions and results

  • Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable executing at a tactical level

  • Clear, confident communicator able to translate insights into actionable recommendations

  • Available for occasional evening and/or weekend meetings and events as needed

Salary range: $180,000 - $200,000

Location: New York, NY (in office 3 days per week)
