The Director of Behavioral Health provides leadership to effectively grow the Behavioral Health Program by ensuring clinical excellence, operating efficiency, and financial strength. This position will work with the Chief Program Officer to design, develop, and implement a strategic plan to ensure the success of the clinical, financial, and overall operating performance and successful growth of the program. The Director of Behavioral Health directs, administers, and coordinates the overall operations of the program services, including the goals and objectives established by the agency.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the supervision of counseling and psychiatry team (Counseling, Adult and Child Psychiatry, Support Groups, and Behavioral Health Administration) to include recruitment, assessment, evaluation, development, and coaching.
- Oversee Quality Assurance within Behavioral Health Program, ensuring minimum documentation criteria is met.
- Identify staff training needs and ensure development and implementation of programs that address needs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a plan of action to have Therapists credentialed and contracted with major commercial insurance companies including Medicare, including but not limited to maintaining compliance and appropriate billing.
- Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality care in a fashion that is cost effective and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and ethical regulations.
- Review and evaluate clinical components of medical records in EHR software.
- Works with credentialing to ensure timely provider documentation to maximize reimbursement from 3rd party payers and works with billing department to monitor and support fee collections, and payments.
- Provide clinical service oversight to clinicians.
- Collaborate with Chief Program Officer and Chief Financial Officer on program budgets and revenue forecasting.
- Develop and implement, in collaboration with Chief Program Officer, new program initiatives.
- Responsible for maintaining and coordinating State certification, licensing, and quality standards of performance.
- Work with Grant Director to ensure compliance, state appropriations, Federation and community funding including requirements are met and reports are provided accurately and timely.
- Work with Accounting and other areas of the agency to ensure billing is accurate and current.
- Implementation and oversight of additional process and protocols regarding compliance, Electronic Health Records, clinical services’ accounts receivables, and billing, and clinician’s productivity.
- Identify opportunities for improved program efficiencies within the division from an administrative perspective.
- Anticipate challenges, identify procedural shortfalls, recommend improvement and recognize future needs of the department.

- Essential Training
- Understanding and participating in the Agency’s Performance and Quality Improvement framework, functions, and activities.
- LCSW, LMHC, LMFT; licensed by the State of Florida Department of Health.
- Minimum of 7 years post-graduate experience, including a minimum of 4 years of administrative experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct management experience.
- Proven ability to improve productivity of staff
- Demonstrates ability to form relationships and work cooperatively with multiple levels of staff and as part of a team as well as with clients and the community.
- Superior clinical and management skills and experience are grounded in best practices.
- Effective department budgeting, reporting and fiscal management.
- Familiar working with Electronic Health Records Software and ability to learn new software systems.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to present ideas, information and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing, and to engage any individual regardless of background.
- Leadership and critical thinking capabilities required.
- Experience with various client populations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Problem solving, analytical communication and crisis management skills are necessary to assist clients and/or caregivers who may be in distress.
