This work will happen remotely under the direction of A More Perfect Union’s VP for Network & Impact, with supervision on certain projects by the VP for Strategy & Communications. It is a great opportunity to learn how new organizations build programs, audiences, and infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide regular and timely correspondence and administrative support to network members via email and through our network platform
  • Ensure all network-related updates are tracked and activities are moderated appropriately in our CRM, platform, and other databases
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and support between A More Perfect Union and its partners and within the network itself
  • Occasionally draft, edit or support content creation (no skills beyond Canva necessary)
  • Help maintain A More Perfect Union’s ecosystem of consumer software (Google, Canva, Notion, etc.); periodically research new technologies and best practices
  • Conduct democracy-related research, synthesize research findings, and brief team members
  • Support virtual and in-person event coordination and execution as needed
  • Other Network/Strategy tasks as needed

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES, AND SKILLS

  • Familiarity with the American Jewish landscape
  • Working knowledge of how networks work and grow (or willingness to learn)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collegially with a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, including multi-tasking and meeting required deadlines
  • Facility and comfort with technology and enthusiasm for learning new functions and products
  • Familiarity and/or aptitude for consumer software especially Notion, Calendly, Canva, Google Workspace, and Slack
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector preferred (working or interning)
  • Interest in political science, democracy, organizing and advocacy, or civil society

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

A More Perfect Union has team members in New York, Washington, DC, and California. While the project is largely virtual, some in-person meetings may be required, including sessions with the team, with partners, and with our Strategic Advisors. All expenses associated with travel for the project will be reimbursed. The Contractor will enter into contract with Issue One, A More Perfect Union’s fiscal sponsor, and will work directly with the senior staff of A More Perfect Union.

The position is scoped to require 30+ hours per week to start, with a monthly retainer and potential for growth in scope, and potential to become a permanent staff position. Equipment (computer, wireless internet connection, etc.) and personal office space must be provided by the Contractor, though software necessary for executing the scope, as well as a fixed monthly stipend to offset home office costs, will be provided by A More Perfect Union. While it is expected that the Contractor will be available during business hours, A More Perfect Union allows for a flexible work schedule. This is a remote assignment.

A More Perfect Union is committed to maintaining a nondiscriminatory work environment and places a high value on fostering an inclusive workplace. We do not make hiring or contracting decisions based on race, religion, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, political affiliation, pregnancy, disability, or any other status protected by law.
