About A More Perfect Union:

The Jewish Partnership for Democracy launched in early 2022 to mobilize the American Jewish community to protect and strengthen American democracy. A More Perfect Union’s initial work focuses on two priorities:

  1. In the short-term (2022-2026), we will work to protect electoral democracy by strengthening the systems that ensure free and fair elections and building greater trust and confidence in the integrity of America’s electoral process.
  2. In the medium-term (2023 and beyond), we will work to strengthen American democratic culture to nourish a shared sense of civic commitment, less toxic polarization, and reasoned and reasonable policy deliberations.

Position Summary

A More Perfect Union seeks a Network and Community Consultant to develop and lead a strategy to connect with partners to understand their work, their challenges, what they can contribute, and what they need. Building on deep relationships and a commitment to A More Perfect Union’s mission, the Consultant will recruit and onboard new partners, support partners to make meaningful progress against their commitments, and weave partners into a network capable of effective collective action.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement network strategy

  • Craft and oversee strategic and operational plans that cultivate a partner network designed to effectively support A More Perfect Union’s strategic plans and goals.
  • Craft a plan to align and weave the network in ways that routinely connect partners across strategies and tactics.
  • Onboard new partners, facilitate connections between and among partners, and support network partners to more deeply their organizations’ work with the work of the network.
  • Catalyze and support self-organizing among network partners.
  • Working in partnership with the VP for Strategy and Communications, assess and fulfill partners’ communications and other content needs.

Support partners to achieve their commitments

  • Embrace A More Perfect Union’s “commitment and support” framework to ensure that partners’ commitments and work are effectively and consistently advancing our mission and priorities.
  • Meet frequently with partners (primarily remotely) to build and deepen strong, meaningful, and trusting relationships among partners and between A More Perfect Union and its partners.
  • Identify issues that should be elevated as trends/themes in terms of needs, strengths, opportunities, etc., that could inform programmatic priorities and supports.
  • Manage, add to, and continuously improve upon A More Perfect Union’s portfolio of partner resources, tools, and activities, and support uptake of those resources, tools, and activities.

Lead learning and evaluation strategy

  • Oversee network learning and evaluation strategy to track progress against metrics and ensure that individual partners, the network as a whole, and A More Perfect Union are consistently learning and improving.

The position is scoped to require 30 hours per week to start, with a monthly retainer and potential for growth in scope. Equipment (computer, wireless internet connection, etc.) must be provided by The Consultant, though software necessary for executing scope will be provided by Client. While it is expected that the Consultant will be available during business hours, A More Perfect Union allows for a flexible work schedule. This is a remote assignment.
