Rukin Rabbinic Fellowship Director, Full Time (Remote)
18Doors
Rukin Rabbinic Fellowship Director
Job Description
Who We Are
We’re 18Doors, a fast-paced, national Jewish nonprofit with a collegial, warm organizational culture and entrepreneurial spirit. We are the only national Jewish nonprofit laser focused on understanding, connecting with, and communicating the needs of Jewish interfaith couples and families. 18Doors has a budget of about $3 million and staff and rabbinic fellows and alumni in over 30 communities around the country and in Canada.
18Doors’ mission focuses on both directly serving interfaith couples and families and the clergy, professionals and lay leaders who serve them. To achieve our mission, we provide engagement opportunities through our website—inclusive of essays, advice, resources, and recipes; a Jewish clergy referral service; a rabbinic fellowship program; and learning opportunities for Jewish professionals, clergy, and lay leaders. It is all designed to empower couples and families to connect and build the Jewish life they want.
We want our team to reflect the diversity of our world, and of interfaith couples and families. 18Doors is committed to diversifying our employees and welcomes applications from those groups that have historically been underrepresented in Jewish organizations—people of color, people with disabilities and LGBTQ people. 18Doors staff and board have done work over the last few years to improve the ways we create a workplace where all staff feel a sense of belonging.
Role Overview
18Doors seeks a seasoned Jewish educator who will lead the strategy, next-stage development and execution of the Rukin Rabbinic Fellowship program, a signature initiative that cultivates a national network of rabbis who are trained, supported, and empowered to provide inclusive, welcoming, and meaningful Jewish experiences for interfaith couples and families. Over 18 months, pluralistic cohorts of 20-30 North American rabbis learn together about best practices in the engagement and empowerment of interfaith couples and families. The Fellowship is at an exciting moment ready for the right person to further refine and elevate the educational experience during and following the fellowship.
The Rukin Fellowship Director position is ideal for a dynamic leader with experience leading cohort-based professional development experiences, preferably for Jewish clergy, a passion for mentoring clergy, and a deep knowledge and appreciation for the needs of interfaith couples and families. The Director will manage all aspects of the Fellowship program, including recruitment and selection of fellows, cohort learning, alumni engagement, and evaluation. They will serve as a thought leader in the field, advancing inclusive Jewish practices and strengthening the impact of interfaith engagement through rabbinic leadership.
This is a full-time role at 18Doors and will report to the Chief Program Officer.
Who You Are
You are a strategic thinker who has a proven track record of developing and executing impactful cohort-based professional development experiences, preferably for Jewish professionals and lay leaders, and ideally for Jewish clergy. You understand the issues clergy need and wish to discuss related to interfaith inclusion and have the background to lead their learning. You are a talented facilitator who crafts learning environments and uses techniques and modalities that achieve desired outcomes. You can “hold a room,” both in-person and online.
You also have deep knowledge of the experiences and needs of Jewish interfaith families and couples, including the broad diversity of interfaith families in Jewish life. You comprehend what drives acceptance of difference and what leads to individual and communal change. You understand the intersectionality of identity and how different social identities overlap with one another and influence our experiences in Jewish life and community, particularly around race, ethnicity, and religion.
You are data-driven, using it to evaluate outcomes achievement and to make changes, as necessary, to the program.
You are a team player. No task is too big or too small for you to take on. You’ll set the vision for the Fellowship, create program outlines, facilitate sessions, and also be responsible for ordering supplies, printing materials, communicating directly with Fellows, among other responsibilities. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues across 18Doors to support the Fellowship and offer insights into their work, as requested. You thrive in a work environment where diversity is celebrated and where everyone brings their full selves.
