RSS seeks a Director of Development to join the school’s leadership team to provide guidance and direction to all aspects of the RSS development program, which currently includes a $1.2 million annual fund and is nearing completion of a $11.5 million capital fundraising effort. The successful candidate will be an experienced fundraiser who is highly organized, able to effectively manage multiple priorities, and enjoys collaborating with Board members, key stakeholders, faculty and administrative colleagues, parents, grandparents, and alumni to support RSS’ growth and innovation. The Director of Development will report directly to the Head of School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ● Steward donors and build relationships to support fundraising goals as well as enhance Board, parent, alumni, grandparent, and former Board member relationships
  • ● Provide fundraising guidance and support to the Head of School, the Board and Annual Fund Co-Chairs
  • ● Solicit leadership gifts for both annual and capital giving
  • ● Coordinate prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities
  • ● Plan and manage periodic cultivation and recognition events
  • ● Guide volunteers to achieve development objectives
  • ● Establish and implement long/short-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • ● Monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness
  • ● Create and initiate effective marketing and communication vehicles
  • ● Supervise Development Staff, as well as collaborate closely with Advancement Team colleagues
  • ● Externally represent Rodeph Sholom School to current and prospective support constituencies

Qualifications & Skills:

  • ● 5-7 years of campaign management and fundraising experience (independent school, college, or university preferred)
  • ● Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • ● Strong grasp of current trends in advancement/issues facing independent schools and Jewish day schools
  • ● Comprehensive understanding of annual giving, capital fundraising, and the relationship between the two
  • ● Great motivator and decisive manager of people with the ability to develop consensus
  • ● Goal-oriented and proactive
  • ● Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs
  • ● Able to create reports, analyze and synthesize data
  • ● Understanding of Jewish values and possess a passion for RSS’s mission
