The Director of Special Projects will be responsible for QC Hillel's expansion to Queensborough Community College. At QCC, you will build relationships with students, and develop and mentor a team of student leaders creating high-quality and exciting events around campus. Additionally, working with QC Hillel's Student Impact Team, you will oversee a number of special projects related to QC Hillel's expansion including a new One Table platform, our social media strategy and content, and the Digital Marketing Internship.
What You’ll Do
- With the Executive Director, envision, design and execute an engagement and education plan to connect to Jewish students at Queensborough Community College
- Support student leaders from QCC to develop a student-led Hillel group at the college, and connect them to opportunities such as career readiness programs, Shabbat life, experiential travel
- opportunities like Birthright, and leadership development programs
- Build relationships with around 180 students per year from diverse backgrounds through meaningful conversations
- Oversee our social media presence and strategy
- Oversee special projects such as the new One Table platform, and the Digital Marketing Internship.
On a day to day basis you will
- Meeting a student for coffee to learn about them and their journey
- Mentoring and motivating student leaders as they contribute to QCC Hillel and the entire campus community in new and creative ways
- Tabling on campus to promote QCC Hillel and meet new faces
- Working with new student interns and/or volunteer leaders to create a sustainable Hillel group at QCC
- Creating new content and strategy for our social media channels
- Developing new curriculum and facilitating learning for our Digital Marketing Interns
What You’ve Accomplished
- 3-5 years of professional experience; experience in nonprofit leadership, Jewish experiential
- education or higher education a plus
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience as a professional in a Jewish nonprofit organization is preferred
- Proven success in community building and managing multiple projects, with many moving parts
- Excellent mentorship and leadership skills and the ability to coach others to achieve outcomes

- Experience in leading complex conversations about Judaism and Israel in a way that is approachable, inquisitive, and meets students at various points in their personal journeys
- Experience working with a wide variety of socio-economic, religious and ethnic backgrounds
- A love of the borough of Queens
