A primary function of this and every other job at the "J" is to ensure by whatever rational and legal means necessary that each member, guest and visitor leaves the "J" feeling just a little better than when they arrived.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a thought and strategy partner to the Chief Executive Officer, playing a pivotal role in contributing to and translating the agency's vision into day-to-day execution, ensuring that operations align with long-term goals. This high-profile C-suite (Hanhallah) role is a dynamic and innovative leader responsible for the comprehensive oversight, direction, and success of the Tucson J's "group services" departments including Early Childhood Education, Disability Program Services, Teens, Children & Youth, and Camp.
Position Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with CEO in setting strategic direction and maintaining a culture committed to high performance, efficiency, equity, respect, and growth
- Oversee daily operations of key JCC departments including Early Childhood Education, Disability Program Services, Children & Youth, and Camp
- Will provide direct supervision, coaching, and leadership for Sr Director of Early Childhood Education, Sr Director of Disability Program Services, Director of Camp and Youth, and Director of Teen Engagement
- Partner to develop and manage an annual operating budget of $14M while driving revenue and profitability year over year. This includes annual budget creation, regular review and analysis, and reforecasting
- Develop an evaluation plan to use data metrics and feedback to ensure program quality, track goals, maintain strategic direction, and continue toward excellence
- Collaborate with Chief Experience Officer and Sr Director of Marketing, Communication, + PR to design and implement the agency program planning strategy and procedure
- Oversee and manage key Talent and HR functions including: onboarding/offboarding processes, managing the J's learning management system (Brainier), professional development and training, performance management process, Personnel Code, Emergency Procedures, Organizational Chart, and receiving and investigating Grievances and Prohibited Conduct Reports
- Responsible for maintaining the J's DES (Department of Economic Security) contract for childcare programs
- Support Board committees and task forces, ensuring effective communication and collaboration between staff and Board leadership
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience directing complex logistical operations, personnel, and budgets in related field
- Proven track record of success in building positive, inclusive team culture where there is accountability for results
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Extensive customer service skills
- Demonstrated supervisory experience and excellent coaching and supervision skills
- Knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, and community
- Bachelor's degree in related field, Master's degree a plus
Salary:
$135,000 - $150,000
