Our Executive Director will partner with and support our elected leadership, volunteers, and Rabbi in the implementation of our vision and goals and be a warm and friendly ambassador to the community. This is a newly created, full-time position, though close to full-time will be considered. The Executive Director reports to the Co-Presidents.

The specific tasks are:

  • Oversee administrative staff;
  • Run the day-to day business of the synagogue;
  • Coordinate the congregation’s programming and maintain synagogue calendar;
  • Supervise and monitor building/facility related matters;
  • Lead communications efforts including weekly email, social media and print materials;
  • Support special programs and events around the Jewish Calendar, including organizational aspects of the High Holy Days;
  • Supervise tech staff and tech needs for virtual and in-person services and events;
  • Support the recruitment of volunteers;
  • Develop and improve operational efficiencies and synergies as we build new systems;
  • Attendance at evening board meetings and some committee meetings is expected;
  • Attendance at some Shabbat/holiday services and events is expected;

Qualifications required of the Executive Director

The Executive Director must possess excellent skills in interpersonal communication. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, with the ability to develop new administrative and operational systems; has a solid foundation in fiscal and facilities management and is experienced in managing/mentoring mid-level personnel and team building.

● A bachelor’s degree (preferred) and prior experience as in a senior management position of a Jewish non-profit organization, although we will consider strong candidates with other management experience;

● Experience in budget management;

● Experience in managing volunteers;

● Strong verbal and written communication skills;

● Professional executive presence including representing Am Tikvah in community-wide organizations;

● Proficient in website content development, email newsletters, and social media platforms as communication tools in addition to print newsletters;

● Proficient in the use of Shul Cloud or similar CRM,** **Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, Zoom, and other internet applications;

● Knowledge and understanding of Jewish ritual practice, customs, and holidays, and familiarity with the customs of the Jewish community;

● Participation in local and national organizations related to professional development and the ability to network with other administrators in the field;

● Development and fundraising experience is a plus.

Annual salary range for the Executive Director $80,000 - 95,000 depending on experience
