POSITION: Camp Director

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Education Director

CLASSIFICATION: Part Time, Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE:  $700/week; Part-time, non-exempt

  • 5-6 weeks of camp (during school breaks and at the end of summer)
  • 35 hours per week during camp (8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.)
  • 6 hours prep @ $25/hour per week of camp (anytime during month before camp starts)

*If DIrector is hired for full year (all camps), then bonus payment is offered

The Role:

The Camp Director is responsible for implementing fun, well-planned, and seamlessly run camps during school breaks for children ages 3 to 7 at Aish Detroit. This position is both managerial and hands-on working with children. The primary responsibilities of this position include coordinating with the Education Director, assisting in vision, organization, and implementation of camp program and new camp initiatives.

Primary Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Passion for Jewish education and a campers-first attitude
  • Hiring and managing staff, as well as building a positive staff culture
  • Planning schedule of activities
  • Managing and organizing registration
  • Ordering supplies and food
  • Overseeing and being present for day-to-day operations of camp, including daily set up and clean up
  • Creating a positive and exciting culture for the campers
  • Being present and engaging with families at drop off and pick up
  • Troubleshooting and proactively resolving issues
  • Communicating with parents regularly and as needed
  • Reporting any important camper and family communications to the Education Director

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enthusiasm and passion for the mission and values of Aish Detroit
  • 2+ years of experience working with children in a formal or informal educational setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite
  • Strong abilities to communicate in verbal and written forms
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
